Ever since I joined here, there is this excitement whenever I open the website. From looking for new audio releases, arts from following artists, to checking users daily news post stories. When the time I created my account for the first time, I had no idea about the term account verification. I had no idea how to do it, but with the help of my parents (I took a month before calling it) I finally verified it. The joy and excitement is fulfilling at that time and the very first thing I did was to create a news post saying the account is now verified.
The reason I created an account is to listen to audio that is popular in Geometry Dash like Sonic Blaster by F-777 and Clutterfunk by Waterflame and by listening to them, I also explore more of the audio section. After months passed it get quite boring to only look at one section, and it is when I realized to try to go to other sections, especially the art section. It is also the first time I found an art source directly posted by artists who created their works unlike in Pinterest and Google that is a collection of images from different sites. Of course, I was fascinated by the cool drawings filtered in "most views" like the dragons and scenery then decided to go to latest filter where I found this Ryuko fanart by ADSouto and quickly fell in love with his art style, same with other artists I discovered that day. Everyday I always reload the page daily to see new releases and arts to fascinate with, then I decided to make this trend I made called "Art of the Day" where I post in my news arts from other websites (I also discovered DeviantArt and Pixiv that time). At first it was simple, put an image, the expression, and done that's it. But as time goes by, I started to improvise (a little) by also directing links to the original posts and their artists. With this activity, I met one of my first internet friend in Newgrounds, goes by the name SolarityFlaire (Known as Nerosnuu or Solaxsnuu today). She happened to knew because of one of the arts I posted in "Art of the Day" which is an official sprite art of a game we both play. We quickly become friends and share some interests.
Months has passed, and all I do is open art pages, look for the coolest and beautiful art, and used it to post for "Art of the Day". Then this is when my peak excitement comes in, the discovery of forums where trends and shit poasts are created by users to chat and hang out with others. I tried to create my first post and it did not quite went to what I expect, but anyways, I then go to General forums where I met some cool people. At first I only post to increase my post count but I found it quite bland when I reviewed my posts, so I tried to really chat with them (even though I'm bad at communicating, especially my English is bad back then). There were also events made by the general community where I participated sometimes to join the fun. One time while I was just opening Newgrounds, a message came in and said someone had gifted me a supporter badge. I was very happy back then to be able to access some features exclusive to supporters. And so years had passed and it was my greatest time hanging in Newgrounds, until that day arrived.
On March (I guess) of 2023, mods of website decided to shutdown general forums. I don't know the reasons but it was devastating for me to hear this news and made me less active compared then. I started to visit less frequently in Newgrounds, I also posted less frequently in "Art of the Day" due to some factors including the shutdown of general and school stuff.
Today, I only visit Newgrounds for some reasons like back reading poasts and watching animations. I never have the enjoyment now compared back then but I still remember the memories I made with this website. Like what I always said to my self, "It's a cannon event", we must continue on and accept what had been lost.
And no, I don't mean to leave the website, I'm just sharing my thoughts back then cause I'm bored asf and know that no one will even reach this point. Anyways if you reach this point, have a great day/night.
